My Review

A new version of “The Incredible Hulk” came out in 2008, after the 2003 film “Hulk” and the CBS-TV show (1977-1982), with the same story of Dr. Bruce Banner on the run from government authorities after exposure to gamma radiation causes him to transform into an enormous green monster when he becomes stressed out. The expense of constantly buying new shirts must be a challenge, financially and otherwise.

Director Louis Leterrier (“Transporter 2” 2005) and screenwriter Zach Penn did a good job of putting together this respectable superhero movie, the second film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Producers Avi Arad, Gale Anne Hurd, and Kevin Feige also had a hand in the project, which is based on the comic book series by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.

The cast is headed by Edward Norton in the title role. He did a smashing job! The supporting cast includes Liv Tyler, Tim Roth, William Hurt, Tim Blake Nelson, Ty Burrell, Christina Cabot. There are cameo appearances by Robert Downey Jr., Stan Lee, and Lou Ferrigno, the original Hulk on the television program, as a security guard. The first Dr. Banner, Bill Bixby, has a cameo of sorts as he is shown in a background scene on television from “The Courtship of Eddie’s Father,” one of his other shows.

“The Incredible Hulk” was moderately successful at the box office for Marvel Studios, Valhalla Motion Pictures, and Universal Pictures. Edward Norton never again played Bruce Banner/The Hulk, being replaced by Mark Ruffalo in future MCU movies.
