Helen Mirren delivers an outstanding performance as Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir in the biopic “Golda.” Israeli director Guy Nattiv (“Skin” 2018) and screenwriter Nicholas Martin (also one of the producers) contain most of the story to the Yom Kippur War of Oct. 6-25, 1973, when Egypt and Syria, supported by the Soviet Union, attempted to invade Israel.
The supporting cast includes numerous Israeli, English, & French actors including Camille Cottin, Rami Hueberger, Ohad Knoller, Lior Ashkenazi, Dominic Mafham, Ed Stoppard, Jamie Ray Newman, Rami Hueberger as Moshe Dayan, Ohad Knoller as Ariel Sharon, and Liev Schreiber as Henry Kissinger. There should be some Academy Award nods, especially for Mirren and Schreiber. “Golda” received very little income in theatrical release for Bleeker Street and Vertical Entertainment.
