“33 Postcards” is a charming independent motion picture from Australian producer-director Pauline Chan. The story is about a 16-year-old Chinese orphan girl Mei Mei, supported financially over the years by an Australian sponsor named Dean, who has sent her numerous postcards describing his family life. When her orphanage choir from China makes a visit to Australia, Mei Mei determines to meet Dean to thank him for his support, but is surprised to learn facts about his life that she was not aware of.
Director Chan did an outstanding job of putting together this production, from an excellent screenplay she wrote with Martin Edmund and Philip Dalkin. Zhu Lin as Mei Mei and Guy Pearce as Dean Randall were fantastic in the lead roles. Co-stars include Claudia Karvan, Lincoln Lewis, Kain O’Keeffe, and Matt Nable. “33 Postcards” is a production from Portal Pictures.
