My Review

Chris Evans receives his big introduction as super-hero Captain America in “Captain America: The First Avenger.” Set during World War II, Evans plays Steve Rogers, a frail and infirm man who is transformed into a super-strong soldier named Captain America, whose first assignment is to stop a diabolical villain named Red Skull from taking over the world.

Producer Kevin Feige, director Joe Johnston (“Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” 1989), and screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely put together this outstanding and fun-filled motion picture that is non-stop action that lasts for a little over two hours. It is the fifth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and was very profitable at the box office for Marvel Studios and Paramount Pictures.

The supporting cast of “Captain America: The First Avenger” includes Tommy Lee Jones, Hugo Weaving, Hayley Atwell, Sebastian Stan, Dominic Cooper, Toby Jones, Neal McDonough, Derek Luke, Stanley Tucci, Samuel L. Jackson, Kenneth Choi, Michael Brandon, David Bradley, Natalie Dormer, Laura Haddock, and Jenna Coleman, who would later become famous as Clara Oswald in the “Doctor Who” television series (2012-2017). Stan Lee makes a cameo appearance as a general.
