My Review

“Source Code” is a different kind of science fiction film where a U. S. Army helicopter pilot in a coma is sent into an eight-minute digital recreation of a real life train explosion, assigned to find out the identity of the terrorist who executed the bombing. Weak directing by Duncan Jones (“Moon” 2009) and a sloppily written screenplay by Ben Ripley have the guy going into the train again and again, make this movie look like a bad version of “Ground Hog Day” and “The Great Train Robbery.” Credibility for “Source Code” collapses as the film progresses.

The cast is headed by Jake Gyllenhaal, who seems to do his best to do give a good performance. The same for Jeffrey Wright and Vera Farmiga who play the scientists. Other cast members include Michelle Monaghan, Scott Bakula, Michael Arden, Russell Peters, and Cas Anvar. Nonetheless, “Source Code” was a success at the box office for The Mark Gordon Company and Vendome Pictures.
