Matthew McConaughey stars as a criminal defense attorney who works out of his black Lincoln Town Car in “The Lincoln Lawyer.” He travels around the city and county of Los Angeles meeting and helping out clients. Good direction by Brad Furman (“The Take” 2007) and a sharp screenplay by John Romano make this a very entertaining and engrossing legal thriller, adapted from the 2005 novel by Michael Connelly.
A great supporting cast includes Marisa Tomei, Ryan Phillippe, Josh Lucas, John Leguizamo, Michael Pena, Frances Fisher, Bob Gunton, Brian Cranston, William H. Macy, Shea Whigham, and Michael Pare. This movie has the feel of a television pilot, and indeed was made into a television series on Netflix in 2022. Meanwhile, “The Lincoln Lawyer” from Lionsgate barely made any profit at the box office.
