Is the third time a charm for “A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas?” It is if your standards are very low. Director Todd Strauss-Schulson and screenwriters Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg have come up with the same stoner comedy with the charm of Harold Lee and Kumar Patel as in the first two films of 2004 and 2008.
This Christmas-themed movie has John Cho and Kal Penn returning in the title roles of Harold and Kumar, respectively. Penn took a leave-of-absence from his Obama Administration job as Associate Director of the White House Office of Public Liaison while working on this film. The supporting cast includes Danny Trejo, Neil Patrick Harris, Patton Oswalt, and Danneel Harris. Santa Claus was not kind to “A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas” as it was pretty much a flop at the box office for New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. Pictures.
