“Flight” is a superior action movie from veteran producer-director Robert Zemeckis (“Romancing the Stone” 1984). The story features Denzel Washington in good acting form as an airline pilot who saves his mechanically-disabled plane from crashing. He is a big hero until it is discovered that he was under the influence of alcohol and cocaine at the time.
The screenplay by John Gatins, under the steady hand of Zemeckis, does not disappoint, holding viewer’s attention throughout the two hours plus duration of the picture. Co-stars include Don Cheadle, Bruce Greenwood, John Goodman, Kelly Reilly, Melissa Leo, James Badge Dale, and Piers Morgan as himself. “Flight” was successful at the box office for Paramount Pictures.
