My Review

The ultimate assemblage of superheroes has been gathered together by Marvel Studios in 2012’s biggest summer blockbuster “The Avengers.” Produced in association with Paramount Pictures, Marvel was acquired by Walt Disney Pictures in 2009, honoring previous commitments to Paramount. Disney handles the distribution, sharing profits with Paramount and Marvel, with Marvel Studios becoming a wholly owned entity of Walt Disney Studios. “The Avengers” is the sixth installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Our story has six superheroes joining forces to stop Loki, Thor’s brother played by Tom Hiddleston, from conquering the Earth. The men and women of the hour includes Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America/Steve Rogers, Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk/Bruce Banner, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye/Clint Barton, and Chris Hemsworth as Thor. Other members of this gigantic cast are Samuel L. Jackson, Stellan Skarsgard, Cobie Smulders, Clark Gregg, Gwyneth Paltrow, with cameo appearances by Powers Booth, Jenny Agutter, Harry Dean Stanton, and Avengers co-creator Stan Lee.

Producer Kevin Feige and director-screenwriter Joss Whedon (“Serenity” 2005) did an outstanding job of blending big personalities together into an intricate story that keeps viewers on edge of their collective seats throughout the two-and-a-half hours of the very exciting and watchable motion picture “The Avengers,” which earned over $1.5 billion for The Walt Disney Company.
