My Review

“Prometheus” is the latest blockbuster from producer-director Ridley Scott (“Alien” 1979) to hit the world’s movie screens. The big star of the show is, as usual with Scott, the special effects, now digital in the 21st century.

The screenplay by Jon Spaihts and Damon Lindelof is actually quite good. The two action-filled hours moves very quickly. However, dumb moves by certain Prometheus crew members leave viewers scratching their heads. Like the scene early on when they remove their space helmets risking contamination. Didn’t they consult Ellen Ripley before departure from Earth? Oops, I forgot that this is an “Alien” prequel.

The cast does contain actors delivering at least adequate performances, including Naomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Guy Pearce, Idris Elba, Logan Marshall-Green, Charlize Theron, Sean Harris, Rafe Spall, Kate Dickie, Emun Elliot, Benedict Wong, Ian Whyte, and Patrick Wilson. Can you guess which one is the heavy? Stay tuned!

“Prometheus” was a success in theatrical release for Scott Free Production, Brandywine Productions, Dune Entertainment, and 20th Century Fox. A sequel called “Alien: Covenant” was released in 2017.
