My Review

“This Means War” was billed as a romantic-comedy-spy movie, and, in fact, is neither romantic, nor a comedy, and not much of a spy picture. The story is about two CIA agents who are best friends who fall in love with the same woman. Director McG (“Terminator Salvation” 2009) and screenwriters Timothy Dowling and Simon Kinberg have a storyline that wanders and meanders all over the place. McG’s direction was out of focus and unorganized.

The stars look bad reciting the awful dialogue they were handed. They include Chris Pine, Tom Hardy, Reese Witherspoon, Til Schweiger, Chelsea Handler, John Paul Ruttan, Abigail Spencer, Angela Bassett, Rosemary Harris, Jenny Slate, Michael Papajohn, Rebel Wilson, and David Koechner. “This Means War” was a modest success at the box office for producer Will Smith, director McG, and 20th Century Fox.
