My Review

“Ender’s Game” is a fun science fiction action movie following the ups and downs of young Andrew “Ender” Wiggin, a cadet at the Battle School in the year 2086, when the Earth is under attack from aliens. Ender becomes a reluctant hero when he helps repel the extraterrestrial strike.

Talented actor Asa Butterfield does a good job in the title role. He should have a bright future in the picture business. The supporting cast includes Harrison Ford, Viola Davis, Ben Kingsley, Hailee Steinfeld, Abigail Breslin, Aramis Knight, Moises Arias, and Brandon Soo Hoo.

Director-screenwriter Gavin Hood (“Rendition” 2007) definitely did a good job on this picture. He adapted the screenplay from Orson Scott Card’s 1985 novel of the same name. Despite this and the high production values and special effects, “Ender’s Game” was not successful at the box office for Summit Entertainment, Lionsgate Films, and the other production companies involved.
