Director Jean-Marc Vallee (“The Young Victoria” 2009) and screenwriters Craig Borten and Melissa Wallack recreate the gritty world of the HIV-AIDS community of Dallas, Texas, in the 1980’s. This true story of McConaughey’s character Ron Woodroof tells of his attempts to make anti-viral medication available to AIDS patients, not yet approved by the FDA.
The supporting cast includes Jennifer Garner, Jared Leto, Steve Zahn, Griffin Dunne, Dallas Roberts, Michael O’Neill, Denis O’Hare, Jane McNeill, and James DuMont. “Dallas Buyers Club” was a success at the box office.
