Producer-director-screenwriter Peter Berg (“Battleship” 2012) has put together a good wartime drama in “Lone Survivor.” The film is based on a SEAL Team’s failed mission during the war in Afghanistan to capture and kill a major Taliban leader, with only one American surviving and escaping.
The lone survivor is played by Mark Wahlberg, who holds the audiences’ full attention with his struggle to escape capture and to simply stay alive. The outstanding screenplay by Berg was based on the 2007 book “Lone Survivor” by Marcus Luttrell and Patrick Robinson. The cast also includes Taylor Kitsch, Emile Hirsch, Ben Foster, and Eric Bana.
“Lone Survivor,” a successful movie at the box office for Universal Pictures, leaves us with feelings of gratitude for the sacrifices endured by members of the United States military.
