The biopic “Jobs” about Apple Computer founder Steve Jobs is mostly a dull affair. The screenplay by Matt Whiteley is probably accurate about Jobs’ life details but that does not necessarily translate into good cinema. Ditto for Ashton Kutcher’s performance in the title role; he seems to be sleepwalking throughout the two hour duration of the picture.
Supporting actors include Dermot Mulroney, Amanda Crew, Josh Gad, Matthew Modine, Lukas Haas, Lesley Ann Warren, James Woods, John Getz, Ahna O’Reilly, Ron Eldard, J. K. Simmons, Masi Oka, and Robert Pine. They did little to liven things up.
Producer-director Joshua Michael Stern (“Swing Vote” 2008) seem to follow “Dragnet’s” Jack Webb’s advise: “Just the facts, mam.” It is indeed quite a job to watch the movie “Jobs,” an independent production that did not do well at the box office.
