The “Transformers” movie franchise keeps marching along with the seventh installment just released. “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” has a bit more human drama to add to the crashing and dashing of metallic monstrosities featured in these films. Director Steven Caple Jr. (“Creed II” 2018) did a good enough job of directing traffic, with the screenwriting team of Joby Harold, Darnell Metayer, Josh Peters, Erich Hoeber, and Jon Hoeber.
The human cast features Anthony Ramos, Dominique Fishback, Tobe Nwigwe, Michael Kelly, Sarah Stiles, Aiden Devine, Leni Parker, and Luna Lauren Velez, best known as Maria LaGuerta of the “Dexter” television show (2006-2012). The voice cast stars Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime, Ron Perlman as Optimus Primal, Peter Dinklage as Scourge, Michelle Yeoh as Airazor, Pete Davidson as Mirage, Liza Koshy as Arcee, and John DiMaggio, David Scobolov, Michaela Jae Rodriguez, Colman Domingo, Cristo Fernandez, and Tongayi Chirisa.
Being the seventh “Transformers” film, after the ones from 2007, 2009, 2011, 2014, 2017, and 2018, “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” has done quite well at the box office for Hasbro, Skydance Media, New Republic Pictures, Di Bonaventura Pictures, Bay Films, and Paramount Pictures.
