My Review

Conservative commentator Dinesh D’Souza has come up with another documentary film called “America: Imagine the World Without Her.” He examines leftist arguments that the U. S. system stole wealth from others to create the capitalist society we have now, and compares them to his view that America’s wealth was created by hard work.

D’Souza allows left wing people have their say, such as historian Howard Zinn, sociologist Michael Eric Dyson, professor Ward Churchill, and 1960’s radical Saul Alinsky, who influenced Hillary Clinton and Barak Obama. D’Souza cited the writings of Alexis de Toqueville, a Frenchman who toured the U. S. in 1831-1832. De Toqueville found America to be a land of church-going entreprenuers who worked hard to create wealth, especially in northern states. An exception was the conditions in the southern states, where African-Americans’ conditions under slavery were found to be “dreadful.”

This only touches the surface. Dinesh D’Souza, an immigrant from India, was heavily involved in the film’s various aspects, such as co-producer (with Gerald R. Molen), co-director (with John Sullivan), and co-writer (with Bruce Schooley and Sullivan). “America: Imagine the World Without Her” was a modest success at the box office, distributed by Lionsgate.
