The bottom line about “Birdman” is that the overall tone of the movie is caustic, much too negative to spend two hours of your life on. The dialogue is also extremely tedious and dull.
One intriguing aspect of “Birdman” is that it was filmed in one single shot, nearly two hours long, except for the very beginning and the very end. For this, cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki deserves his Academy Award. The movie won four Oscars out of nine nominations, with the winners being Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Cinematography.
