Producer-director Clint Eastwood (“Play Misty For Me” 1971) has another motion picture gem on his hands with “American Sniper.” It tells the true story of Chris Kyle, the most effective marksman in U. S. military history. Eastwood and screenwriter Jason Hall focused like a laser beam on his military career and its effect on his family life, adapted from the 2012 autobiography of the same name by Navy Seal Kyle.
Bradley Cooper did an excellent job in the lead role, and was nominated for an Academy Award for his efforts. The supporting cast includes Sienna Miller, Max Charles, Luke Grimes, Sam Jaeger, Jake McDorman, Corey Hardrict, Navid Negahban, Keir O’Donnell, Kyle Gallner, Max Charles, et al.
“American Sniper” was nominated for six Oscars, winning one for Best Sound Editing. The film was a winner in theatrical release for Malpaso Productions and Warner Bros. Pictures.
