My Review

“Big Hero 6” is the story of 14-year-old Hiro Hamada and his robot Baymax who form a superhero team to fight a masked villain. This is the first animated Disney film to feature Marvel Comics characters, since the media conglomerate acquire Marvel Studios in 2009. Crisp direction by Don Hall and Chris Williams, and a good screenplay written by Robert L. Baird, Dan Gerson, and Jordan Roberts, has made this quite a gem of a motion picture.

Walt Disney Animation Studios created new software technology to produce “Hero’s” animated visuals; the results are simply stunning. The voice cast is headed by Ryan Potter as Hiro and Scott Adsit as Baymax. Other performers include Daniel Henney, T. J. Miller, Jamie Chung, Damon Wayans Jr., Genesis Rodriguez, James Cromwell, Maya Rudolph, Alan Tudyk, Katie Lowes, Daniel Gerson, Paul Briggs, David Shaughnessy, Billy Bush, and Stan Lee.

“Big Hero 6” won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature at the 87th Academy Awards, and is the 54th film in the Walt Disney Animated Classics series, which began in 1937 with “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.” It was popular in theatrical release, and over the years, two television series about Hiro and Baymax were produced by Disney.
