My Review

“Left Behind” is back and bigger and better than ever from producer Paul LaLonde, who gave us the original back in 2000. This version has a bigger budget, more FX, and some big name stars, like Nicholas Cage starring as Rayford Steele, the airline pilot whose wife disappears in the Rapture, an event where all Christian believers disappear suddenly.

The event of the Rapture happens when Ray is piloting an airliner from New York City to London. He and his crew try to figure out what has happened when many passengers (and one flight attendant) suddenly cannot be found. Co-stars include Lea Thompson, Nicky Whelan, Chad Michael Murray, Cassie Thomson, Jordin Sparks, Lance E. Nichols, William Ragsdale, Martin Klebba, Quinton Aaron, Stephanie Honore, Gary Grubbs, Lolo Jones, Major Dodson, and Alec Rayme.

The “Left Behind” screenplay was penned by Paul LaLonde and John Patus, based on the series of novels by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins. This film was capably directed by Vic Armstrong (“Joshua Tree” 1993), known for his action sequences, especially in this picture when Ray’s airplane had to make an emergency landing. “Left Behind” was a moderate success in theatrical release.
