The James Bond movie franchise has given us some of the best entertainment ever produced, and the latest product is no exception. “Spectre” is the twenty-fourth 007 film from Eon Productions since “Dr. No” in 1962. (“Casino Royale” of 1967 and “Never Say Never Again” of 1983 were Bond films but not produced by Eon Productions.) This movie has the usual Bond staples like numerous action sequences, exotic locations, beautiful women, and exciting storylines that have our favorite spy saving not only the British realm but the entire free world from destruction.
Bond has another encounter with the global crime organization Spectre, not seen since 1971’s “Diamonds are Forever.” Daniel Craig has hit his stride as James Bond in his fourth 007 project. He seems as though he could continue on indefinitely. Christop Waltz is the exciting Bond villan Ernst Blofeld, the mastermind behind Spectre.
The supporting cast includes Monica Bellucci (as Lucia Sciarra, the latest Bond girl), Lea Seydoux, Dave Bautista, Andrew Scott, Rory Kinnear, Jesper Christensen, and Alessandro Cremona. Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw, and Naomie Harris return as M, Q, and Miss Moneypenny, respectively. Judy Dench appears as the previous M, who posthumously gives Bond his mission instructions. This marks her eighth and final film as M, which she began twenty years ago in 1995’s “GoldenEye,” Pierce Brosnan’s first movie as 007.
Producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli and director Sam Mendes (“Skyfall” 2012) have a big winner on their hands with “Spectre” from Eon Productions, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. and Columbia Pictures.
