My Review

“The Age of Adaline” is an interesting romantic fantasy film directed by Lee Toland Krieger (“Celeste and Jesse Forever” 2012). The story of a 29-year-old woman whose aging process is halted forever is a difficult premise to buy into, but is executed as well as can be expected by director Krieger and screenwriters J. Mills Goodloe and Salvador Paskowitz, the son of surfing legend Dr. Dorian Paskowitz.

Blake Lively gave a convincing and captivating performance as Adaline Bowman, the young woman who stays young even as everyone else in her world is aging. Veteran movie stars Ellen Burstyn and Harrison Ford add their considerable talents to the picture, as do Kathy Baker, Amanda Crew, Lynda Boyd, and Michiel Huisman. “The Age of Adaline” is an watchable independent production from Sidney Kimmel Entertainment and Lakeshore Entertainment, a modest hit in theatrical release.
