My Review

Veteran actress Sally Field still “has it” at age 70. She has been entertaining audiences since the 1960’s with such television shows as “Gidget” and “The Flying Nun.” Field then went on to a lengthy movie career that earned her two Oscars. In “Hello, My Name Is Doris,” she delivers a marvelous performance as an older woman holding down a job and develops a crush on a man some thirty years her junior, complicating things in the workplace.

Director Michael Showalter (“The Baxter” 2005) kept the film moving on an even keel. He also co-wrote the multi-layered screenplay with Laura Terruso. The supporting cast includes Tyne Daly, Max Greenfield, Beth Behrs, Stephen Root, Peter Gallagher, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Isabella Acres, Kyle Mooney. The indy film “Hello, My Name Is Doris” was not very successful in theatrical release.
