Walt Disney Pictures and Walt Disney Animation Studios have another massive hit on their hands. The enormously entertaining “Moana” is the story of a daughter of a Polynesian tribal chief who goes on a journey across the Pacific Ocean to save her people.
Directors John Musker and Ron Clements (“Aladdin” 1992) and screenwriter Jared Bush did a fantastic job of creating this feel-good movie, not only with the storyline but also with the colorful computer-generated animation that especially looked good in 3D, available in many theaters.
The film contained numerous Hawaiian-style musical numbers written by Mark Mancina, who also composed the film’s score, and Lin-Manuel Miranda and Optaia Foai. Celebrity voice performers include Aulii Cravalho, Dwayne Johnson, Rachel House, Nicole Scherzinger, Jemaine Clement, Alan Tudyk, Oscar Kightley, Troy Polamalu, Puanani Cravalho, and Temuera Morrison (Jango Fett of “Star Wars II: Attack of the Clones” 2002). All are part of the very watchable “Moana,” the 56th Walt Disney animated feature film.
