My Review

“Patriot’s Day” is an excellent drama film telling the story of the events surrounding the 2013 Boston Marathon Bombing. The movie is well-paced and easy to follow, thanks to good direction by Peter Berg (“Deepwater Horizon” 2016), who also penned the script with Matt Cook and Joshua Zetumer. This was a fast moving two hour and fifteen minute motion picture.

The cast turned in some good performances especially Mark Wahlberg, John Goodman, and J. K. Simmons as police officials and Kevin Bacon as the FBI supervisor. Others include Vincent Curatola, Thomas Menino, Michael Beach, Michelle Monaghan, Alex Wolff, Themo Melikidze, Jimmy O. Yang, Khandi Alexander, and baseball player David Ortiz as himself.

“Patriot’s Day” is a very watchable movie from CBS Films and Lionsgate, a modest success in theatrical release, and a fitting tribute “to all those injured, to the first responders and medical professionals, and to all members of law enforcement” in the tragic events of April 14, 2013.
