My Review

While trying to bury his acorn, Scrat accidentally activates an abandoned space ship that propels him into orbit, sending a giant asteroid on a collision course with earth. Meanwhile, Manny, Sid, Diego, Ellie, and the gang are blissfully unaware of the problem headed their way.

So goes the story in “Ice Age: Collision Course.” After four predecessors, this fifth installment in the “Ice Age” series from 20th Century Fox Animation still has the family friendly entertainment and the laughs that have made each one a hit with the general movie-going public.

Directors Mike Thurmeier (Ice Age: Continental Drift” 2012) and Gulen T. Chu, along with screenwriters Michael J. Wilson, Michael Berg, and Yoni Brenner are responsible for the movie’s success that began with “Ice Age” back in 2002, and continued with sequels in 2006, 2009, and 2012. There have also been four film shorts, two television specials, a stage production, and nine video games.

Returning actors lending their voices to major characters include Ray Romano (Manny), John Leguizamo (Sid), Denis Leary (Diego), Queen Latifah (Ellie), Simon Pegg (Buck), Jennifer Lopez (Shira), Keke Palmer (Peaches), and Chris Wedge (Scrat). Others include Nick Offerman, Max Greenfield, Sean William Scott, Josh Peck, Wanda Sykes, and Michael Strahan.

The “Ice Age” fun and games continue in film number five: “Ice Age: Collision Course,” which was a big hit at the box office in 2016 for 20th Century Fox Animation and 20th Century Fox.
