More action and adventure from a would-be Tom Cruise franchise pretty much describes “Jack Reacher: Never Go Back.” Though the film is formulaic and really offers nothing new to differentiate itself from the original, the screenplay by Richard Wenk, Marshall Herskovitz, and Edward Zwick (also the director) keeps viewers occupied with loads of well put together action sequences.
The supporting cast behind Tom Cruise includes Cobie Smulders, Aldis Hodge, Patrick Heusinger, Holt McAllany, Austin Hebert, Robert Catrini, Robert Knepper, and Danika Yarosh as Reacher’s would-be daughter Samantha. The receipts at the box office were barely enough to cover production and advertising costs, much to the disappointment of Mr. Cruise and Paramount Pictures, who probably will “Never Go Back” for another Jack Reacher sequel. Although a “Reacher” television series is reportedly in the works.
