James Franco and Bryan Cranston do a great job of playing boyfriend vs. the future father-in-law in “Why Him?” Though much of the movie is stock humor and formulaic comedy we have seen before, the screenplay by John Hamburg and Ian Helfer and expert direction by Hamburg (“Little Fockers” 2010) make this an entertaining picture.
Perfect chemistry between Franco, who plays an off-beat tech millionaire, and Cranston, the more conservative father, and Zoey Deutch as the daughter caught in the middle, all help the 111 minute motion picture move smoothly along. The supporting cast includes Megan Mullally, Griffin Gluck, Keegan-Michael Key, Cedric the Entertainer. There are cameos by Elon Musk and Gene Simmons playing themselves. Why not view “Why Him?” from Universal Studios on DVD today!
