My Review

The Best Picture of 2016 is…..”Moonlight,” a coming of age story of an African-American teenager from director-screenwriter Barry Jenkins (“Medicine for Melancholy” 2008). Jenkins put together a sensitive story that won the Oscar for Best Picture of 2016, the first film with an all-black cast to win that award.

“Moonlight” also received an Academy Award for the well-written screenplay, and Mahershala Ali got the Best Supporting Actor Oscar. The outstanding cast includes Trevante Rhodes, Mahershala Ali, Andre Holland, Janelle Monae, and Naomi Harris, known for her role as Miss Moneypenny in recent James Bond films. It was successful in theatrical release for A24, Plan B Entertainment, and Pastel Productions.
