The only positive aspect of “Independence Day: Resurgence” is the excellent special effects. All other particulars of this sequel to 1996’s “Independence Day” is a boring and predictable plot, silly dialogue, and terrible performances, mostly thanks to Roland Emmerich’s lackluster direction and the terrible screenplay he co-wrote with four other people. Perhaps this proves true the old saying that too many cooks spoil the broth.
Returnees from the first film include Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, and Vivica A. Fox. Other cast includes Liam Hemsworth, Jessie Usher, Maika Monroe, William Fichtner, Judd Hirsch, Brent Spiner, Robert Loggia, Travis Tope, Charlotte Gainsbourg, and Sela Ward as the President of the United States. Do not be dependent on 20th Century Fox’s “Independence Day: Resurgence” for good entertainment. However, the movie was successful at the box office.
