My Review

“Daddy’s Home 2” features fun holiday hilarity to entertain movie audiences during this Christmas season. Though a bit of a formulaic comedy, this sequel to 2015’s “Daddy’s Home” has enough laughs that made it a hit at the box office for producer/star Will Farrell and director Sean Anders, who was at the helm of the first picture.

The screenplay by Anders and John Morris continues the story of Brad Whitaker (Ferrell) and Dusty Mayron (Mark Wahlberg), who must deal with their fathers showing for the holidays. The two dads are well played by John Lithgow and Mel Gibson. There is something of a culture-clash storyline here, as Lithgow plays the touchy-feely dad, and with Gibson as Wahlberg’s more macho father. Wonderful comedic performances by these two veterans.

The supporting cast includes Linda Cardellini, John Cena, Alessandra Ambrosio, Scarlett Estevez, Owen Vaccaro, Didi Costine, Hannibal Buress, Bill Barr, and Chesley Sullenberger, the retired airline pilot who safely landed the U. S. Airways Flight 1549 into the Hudson River near Manhattan Island after an aborted take-off. Liam Neeson made a hilarious cameo appearance that the viewers could not miss! All are part of the very watchable “Daddy’s Home 2” from Paramount Pictures.
