“Baywatch” provides some escapist programing for movie audiences this summer seeking relief from heat in the air conditioning of theaters all across North America. The poorly directed film from Seth Gordon (“Horrible Bosses” 2011) and his lousy screenwriters Damian Shannon and Mark Swift is just a bad version of the original television series that ran for eleven seasons from 1990 to 2001.
The cast includes Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron, Kelly Rohrbach, Priyanka Chopra, Alexandra Daddario, Jon Bass, Rob Huebel, Hannibal Buress, Ilfensesh Hadera, Oscar Nunez, and David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson in cameo appearances. The underwater “Baywatch” was a modest hit at the box office for Paramount Pictures.
