“Home Again” is a romantic comedy movie starring Reese Witherspoon as a single mother who invites two brothers and their friend, all twenty years younger, to live with her to save on expenses. Director-screenwriter Hallie Meyers-Shyer did well in organizing this pleasant and innocuous comedy in her big screen debut.
Reese Witherspoon’s winsome persona was augmented by a talented cast that includes Nat Wolff, Jon Rudnitsky, and Pico Alexander as the three roommates, Michael Sheen as Witherspoon’s estranged husband, Candice Bergen as her mother, Lola Flanery and Eden Grace Redfield as her daughters, Lake Bell, Reid Scott, Dolly Wells, and P. J. Byrne.
Hallie Meyers-Shyer is the daughter of filmmakers Charles Shyer and Nancy Meyers, who created some big hit motion pictures including “Private Benjamin” (1980) and “Parent Trap” (1998). One can easily tell that Hallie is a chip off the old block in creating this fun and watchable independently-produced film that was a modest hit at the box office.
