Walt Disney Pictures has another one billion dollar movie on its hands with “Beauty and the Beast.” This is a live-action remake of the studio’s 1991 animated film of the same name. The music by Alan Menken and the 18th century French fairy tale are all updated in a classy way for this 21st century remake.
Disney gave us some top-notch direction by Bill Condon (“The Fifth Estate” 2013) and a marvelous screenplay by Stephen Chbosky and Evan Spiliotopoulos. Emma Watson as Belle and Dan Stevens as the Prince are perfect in the acting and singing categories. Very difficult to imagine anyone else in these roles. The supporting cast includes Kevin Kline, Ewan McGregor, Luke Evans, Emma Thompson, Stanley Tucci, Josh Gad, Ian McKellen, Audra McDonald, and Nathan Mack.
Do yourself a favor and be our guest at the picture show near you to see the very watchable “Beauty and the Beast” from Walt Disney Studios and The Walt Disney Company.
