My Review

Excitement reigns supreme in the second stint by Michael Caine as British secret agent Harry Palmer in “Funeral in Berlin.” Palmer is sent by his boss Colonel Ross to Berlin to arrange for the defection of a Soviet intelligence officer. Director Guy Hamilton (“Goldfinger” 1964) directed a tight ship with all the action and adventure going on, working with a marvelous screenplay by Evan Jones, adapted from the 1964 spy novel by Len Deighton.

The heavily Germanic supporting cast includes Paul Hubschmid, Oskar Homolka, Eva Renzi, Hugh Burden, Heinz Schubert, Wolfgang Volz, and Guy Doleman as Col. Ross. The watchable Cold War spy drama “Funeral in Berlin” from Paramount Pictures is a great view on DVD
