“Vengeance” is a black comedy film about a New York City journalist who travels to Texas for a girl friend’s funeral. Things turn serious when he realizes that she may have been murdered.
The movie is smoothly directed and well written by B. J. Novak, a job well done especially when we realize that this is his big screen debut. If that isn’t enough, Novak is also the star of the show, carrying the picture by appearing in most scenes.
Co-stars include Ashton Kutcher, Boyd Holbrook, Lio Tipton, Isabella Amara, Dove Cameron, J. Smith-Cameron, Issa Rae, and Zach Villa. “Vengeance” is a watchable independent production from director-screenwriter B. J. Novak and Blumhouse Production.
