“The Naked Gun” is a police comedy movie about a police officer who strives to be like his late father as he strives to keep the police department from shutting down by solving an impossible case. Director Akiva Schaffer (“The Watch” 2012) has done a good job at making a sequel to “Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult” (1994) and the fourth in “The Naked Gun” series (1988, 1991, 1994).
Star Liam Neeson as police Lt. Frank Drebin Jr. has excellent deadpan delivery to the corny jokes equal to his predecessor Leslie Nielson as Lt. Frank Drebin. Co-stars include Pamela Anderson, Danny Huston, Paul Walter Hauser, CCH Pounder, Kevin Durand, Liza Koshy, Eddie Yu, Wierd Al Yankovic, and Priscilla Presley reprising her role as Mrs. Jane Drebin, Neeson’s mum. The watchable “The Naked Gun” has been a mild success at the box office for producer Seth McFarland, Fuzzy Door Productions, and Paramount Pictures.
