My Review

Clint Eastwood stars as a recently-widowed retiree, alienated from his family, who must also deal with the increased presence of gangs in his neighborhood in “Gran Torino.” Eastwood directed this excellent drama with comedic elements from a sterling screenplay by Nick Schenk, who developed the story with Dave Johannson. It is the first major motion picture to feature members of the Hmong community, originally from southeast Asian countries, prominently in the cast.

The stars of the show include Clint Eastwood, Bee Vang, Ahney Her, Doua Moua, Christopher Carley, Brain Haley, Brian Howe, Geraldine Hughes, Dreama Walker, John Carroll Lynch, and Scott Eastwood (the director’s son). The watchable “Gran Torino” was very popular at the box office for producer Clint Eastwood, Malpaso Productions, Village Roadshow Pictures, Double Nickle Entertainment, and Warner Bros. Pictures. Kyle Eastwood (the director’s other son) and Michael Stevens composed the film’s musical score.
