Jennifer Garner stars as a woman out for revenge against a drug cartel for killing her husband and daughter in “Peppermint.” This is an updated version of the old “Death Wish” film series that featured Charles Bronson and later Bruce Willis.
Although “Peppermint” is not exactly original material, the film does pass as watchable entertainment due to Garner’s captivating performance, Pierre Morel’s adequate direction (he gave us the less than acceptable “District 13” in 2004), and a passable screenplay by Chad St. John.
The cast in this independent motion picture behind Ms. Garner includes John Ortiz, John Gallagher Jr., Annie Ilonzeh, Juan Pablo Raba, Jeff Hephner, and Pell James.
