My Review

“90 Minutes in Heaven” is an inspiring faith-based movie about a man who dies in a car crash and comes back to life at the hospital, claiming to have spent an hour-an-a-half in Heaven. Director-screenwriter Michael Polish (“Amnesiac” 2014) was focused in putting together this watchable film, which ran smoothly for 212 minutes. Most critics panned the movie, but this website found it to be a thoroughly professional adaptation from the 2004 autobiography of the same name by Don Piper and Cecil Murphey.

Some big name stars occupied the top of the list of cast members. Hayden Christensen (Anakin Skywalker of “Star Wars” fame) played the lead role of Don Piper quite convincingly, with Kate Bosworth as his wife. Supporting roles were filled by Dwight Yoakam, Michael W. Smith, Michael Harding, Roda Griffis, Marshall Bell, Nicholas Pryor, and Fred Thompson in one of his final roles before his passing in November, 2015.

“90 Minutes in Heaven” is an independent production from Giving Films, Family Christian Entertainment, Emmett/Furta Films, distributed by Samuel Goldwyn Films.
