My Review

“2099: The Soldier Protocol” is a futuristic science fiction movie where a paraplegic prison inmate agrees to undergo scientific experiments to restore mobility to his legs but is not told the entire price of the procedure. Director Dee McLachlan put together a film whose only saving grace is the martial arts scenes. The poorly written screenplay by James S. Abrams tells a story we have seen in superhero films, but without much of an interesting plot or payoff at the end.

The cast does not deliver. David Arquette, the only recognizable big name actor here, is the scientist in charge of the project and Kendall Rae plays his assistant. Jackson Gallagher gives the only good performance as the victim of the film (besides the bored and tortured audience). Others include Belinda McClory, Christopher Kirby, Ben Steel, Victoria Liu, Edwina Royce, Matthew Connell, Anna Burgess, and Matt Callan.

“2099: The Soldier Protocol” was a big flop at the box office for SunJive Studios, The Wheel Production, and Vertical Entertainment.
